Here's the patio that we're starting with.
It's pitiful.
So we designed a 10'x22' aluminum porch sitting on a 10'x42' concrete pad. The new porch roof will extend an extra 6' over the southern end of the concrete pad. This will provide an overhang away from the weather and keep the BBQ grill out of the major elements. There must be a doggie door as well!

Construction begins with digging out the dirt and building the wooden form. The existing small concrete pad in front of the slider will be cut and broken up.
And on the 8th day he poured concrete!
And then he erected a porch!
